West’s appointment is effective August 27, 2021, and he joins the planemaker after 16 years at General Electric, where he was the CFO of the company’s aviation and engine services division. The appointment comes at a time Boeing is facing challenges marked by rising debt and a safety crisis.
Boeing CEO David Calhoun said that he has worked with Brian in the past, and he knows he is a great leader. Calhoun and Brian worked at GE and left in 2006 after almost 26 years. The aircraft maker has also named Dave Dohnalek as interim CFO until West resumes.
