The HM Hospitales Group has completed the transformation of the old Delfos and HM Delfos Clinic to inaugurate the HM Nou Delfos Hospital in Barcelona after a “comprehensive, technological and professional” reform that has had a cost of more than 30 million euros.
The “pillars on which the transformation of the center is based” are the new Emergencies, the intensive care unit (ICU) and the Surgical Block, HM Hospitales highlighted in a statement this Thursday.
Thank you for watching
The new Emergency Service has specific circuits that allow people to be cared for according to their illness and severity “with special emphasis” on cardiological, neurological and oncological pathologies. As for the new ICU, it has 12 individual boxes equipped with negative pressure, which reduces the risk of airborne transmission of pathogens such as those that cause covid-19, influenza A and tuberculosis, among others.
The Surgical Block has 11 operating rooms, whose technological endowment is “unique” in Catalan private health, including an operating room integrated in Neurosciences and two that have direct and real-time integrated visualization of different image platforms that, according to the Group, favor the decisions of the surgical team.
Of special relevance is the operating room integrated in Neurosciences, the first in private healthcare dedicated especially to neurosurgery and in which practically all highly complex surgical interventions are carried out, among which those in the specialties of Neurosurgery, Cardiac, Thoracic and Oncological.
Bet on Barcelona
The president of HM Hospitales, Juan Abarca Cidón, has been satisfied with the completion of the works and has assured that the transformation of the old Delfos Clinic is “the consecration of his commitment to Barcelona”.
“We have completed a hospital that thinks about patients and also about professionals. To the care capacity and complexity to attend to any pathology, no matter how serious, is added a teaching and research project that allows not only to cure patients, but to innovate in alternative therapeutic approaches incorporating new techniques that are only possible if you have the latest healthcare advances “, says Dr. Joan Sala, territorial director of HM Hospitales en Catalunya.
HM Nou Delfos has a Clinical Analysis Laboratory in the center itself, which speeds up obtaining concise diagnoses and favors medical therapy and disease prevention.
The new center will be the reference hospital of HM Hospitales en Catalunya, which is completed with the HM Nens and HM Sant Jordi hospitals, a series of specialized comprehensive centers (Centro Integral Oncológico Clara Campal HM CIOCC Barcelona, Centro Integral de Diseases Cardiovascular HM CIEC Barcelona and Centro Integral de Neurosciencias AC HM CINAC Barcelona) and three polyclinics.
Support to the public network
“HM Hospitales since it landed 3 years ago, with the acquisition of the Delfos Clinic, is making a first-rate investment effort in Barcelona” even when other companies were leaving Barcelona, highlights the president of HM Hospitales en Catalunya, Antoni Garrell Guiu .
Having a new hospital is great news. Having a company that wants to come and invest in our land is great news. And with a clear vocation to continue investing and adding value to a national health system in Catalonia that combines the efforts of both public and private provision, as has been demonstrated in these months of pandemic.
And that is why, from HM Nou Delfos and the rest of the Group’s centers we are at the disposal of the Department of Health and the new director, Josep M. Argimon, to contribute our grain of sand where necessary. We are of the opinion that, in health matters, the more services there are, the better, since the citizen is the first beneficiary, “he adds.
